During His lifetime, Sri Sathya Sai Baba established important centers (Ashrams) in different parts of India to act as Organisational headquarters for community service and spiritual upliftment. The heart of His Mission was the Prasanthi Nilayam Ashram established by Baba on His 25th Birthday in the year 1950. The next Ashram was Brindavan in the city of Bangalore in 1964, which acted as His second home after Prasanthi Nilayam, for nearly half a century. This was followed by Dharmakshetra (also known as Satyam) in Mumbai in 1968, Sivam in Hyderabad in 1974, and Sundaram in Chennai in 1981. In 1982, Bhopal was blessed with Shantivan, and in 1983, Guntur received Shanti Sudha. Sai Sruthi, the spiritual retreat in Kodaikanal, established in 1986 was special as He visited this Ashram with select students and devotees during the summer almost every year. The year 1999 witnessed the inauguration of two new centers – Sri Sathya Sai International Center in New Delhi, and Ananda Nilayam in Madurai. In 2010, Baba inaugurated Anand Vilas, at Shimla. Each of these centers is an architectural marvel, and exudes memories of the time He spent in those holy precincts. They continue to reverberate with His message of love and service to humanity.
