Poush Mela-Santiniketan-West Bengal-Dec 24-28, 2019

Loving Sairam!

Poush Mela in Santiniketan is a carnival set in the rural part of Bengal. It is an important festival in the district of Birbhum of West Bengal. It is held in the Shantiniketan Mela Grounds with great excitement and gaiety. The Poush Mela started in the year 1892 as a small Tagore family affair along with a handful of people at Santiniketan. Now it is an International Events, identifying the state of Bengal.

Request from the VC of Visva-Bharati University

Beloved Swami who sent HIS 120 Sevadal upon a request by the Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati University Dr Bidyut Chakraborty. At a very short notice of 2 weeks, Sevadal from 7 districts of West Bengal, led by the host district Birbhum reached Natya Ghar, their place of stay in Santiniketan, from where they would set off at 0030 hours in the middle of the cold wintry night with shovels, broomsticks, trolleys, garbage bags and indefatigable Sai Energy to keep the large Mela ground spic and span clean before the first visitor of the day arrives at 8 am on all four days.

Highlight: But the most unique happening of Poush Mela 2019 was that it was seen as the *Cleanest Mela in recent memory* as noted by many regular visitors.
