Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation-Punjab

The ‘Walk For Values’ program was conducted by SSSSO Punjab on Saturday, 28th October 2017 at ‘Sri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium’, Jalandhar. This was the event held to promote the Five Founding Human Values emphasized by our beloved Bhagawan i.e., Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Non-Violence.  It was a ‘Walk of awakening’ to the society, especially children and youth towards the human values, which are essential for a Happy and Peaceful life.

The program on 28th started at 9 A.M through registrations. School and College Students & Staff started arriving at the Venue from 8.30 A.M itself.  As time ticked the SSSSO members, other NGO members and General public started gathering at the venue. The total number was about 3500 including 2400 school and college students. Few Dignitaries and Sai Organization members from National Capital New Delhi also participated in the event.

As the stage got set, the gatherings were motivated by unveiling and unraveling the ‘purpose of walk’. A cultural dance was performed to pep up the students and set the ambience.

At 10.15 A.M, the Chief Guest of the event Sri Ashok Mittal, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, hoisted the National Flag, as everyone stood up for National Anthem.

Then the Chief Guest along with SSS Trust Convenor Sri S.K. Punj, SP and SVP Sri VK Kapoor and Sri Maninder Singh, Former President of Delhi University Sri Arun Hooda performed the ‘Lamp lighting’ ceremony.

Following this, Sri Ashok Mittal, Sri Mohinder Bhagat (BJP Leader) and Sri Maninder Singh gave a brief talk and lauded the efforts of SSSSO for this noble event and stressed the need of practicing the human values in daily life, by one and all.

Sri Santokh Singh Choudhary, Member of Parliament gave a green signal to start the walk by waving the green flag.  Dignitaries from schools and colleges, NGOs and Political leaders were present during this inaugural moment.

As the SSS Balvikas Students chanted the Vedas, the Walk started. Each ‘Value Block’moved forward holding value placards, quotations and balloons.  Walk was traditionally led by a well decorated Elephant, followed by a Small Tableau, the ‘Value Band’, the VIPs, SSSSO Members, Veda chanting group and Student groups. MLA Sri Henry also walked along with the crowd for the entire route.

It was a sight to behold as the troupe walked with discipline starting from Guru Gobind Singh stadium and covering the boundary of Model Town Market and New Jawahar Nagar. The Value messages and quotations surely seem to converse and leave an impact on the audience en-route. A total of 1.7km walk concluded and converged back at the stadium.

Refreshments were served to all the participants. The Musical and Cultural performances that followed entertained the Audience. The sponsors and supporters of the event, School and College Principals and Heads, Police Security personnel and Volunteers were honored with Trophies and Goodies.

The whole event concluded with Prayers and Aarathi to Swami.

It was Swami’s miracle which enabled to get permission to perform the event at the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, as the venue is not given for any Organization to perform any events other than that of Sports.

‘How Swami arranged for Elephant?’

To keep up with the tradition,  it was planned to have an elephant lead the ‘Walk For Values’ procession. For some reason or other, it was not getting arranged and getting postponed each day. On Wednesday night two core team members got a dream in which Swami appeared with Sai Geetha. Lo and behold! Just 2 days before the event i.e. Thursday morning 9am, an

Unknown Mahut came with elephant seeking alms. He was asked if he could participate in the program and he readily agreed. That’s Swami. That’s His Grace. The elephant was well trained and amused everyone blessing and adding his gait to the walk

The promos for the events were done through online and Radio streams, banners and hoardings. Schools and Colleges from different cities of Punjab were invited to participate. A Youth Volunteer group was formed, including youth from outside of SSSSO to manage the event.

The SSSSO Punjab State Education coordinators – Sri Saajan Sharma, Smt. Minakshi Jhanji, Spiritual Coordinator Smt. Simmi Malhotra, Jalandhar Samithi convenor Sunil Malhotra and the youth Volunteers planned the execution of the event.

Our Humble Pranams and sincere Thanks to our Beloved Bhagawan for making the event successful. Without His Divine Grace, some severe hurdles and bottlenecks would not have been sorted out. We pray Bhagawan to forgive us for our short-comings and strengthen us with the learning we got.
