KANCHIPURAM NORTH ~ SSSSO TAMIL NADU

With the divine blessings of our beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Kanchipuram North District organized a Bhajan Workshop and Bhajan Vikas (Batch 8 – Boys) Valedictory function on 28th April 2019, at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare (SSSIE) School, Chromepet, Chennai.
Bhajan Vikas is the first of its kind initiative started by Kanchipuram North District, Tamil Nadu in 2010 for Bal Vikas boys and gradually the training was extended by Mahilas to include Bal Vikas girls as well.  Bhajan Vikas is a unique training program designed to induce the Bal Vikas children to understand the significance of bhajan singing and its basic requirements.  It is a 12 weeks program and is being meticulously conducted for the last 9 years from 2010 to 2019. Swami blessed the Bhajan Vikas course certificates of the first batch in 2010

Sri J. Venugopal, State President, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (India), Tamil Nadu who was instrumental in organizing the Bhajan workshop, and Sri Kumaraswamy, Correspondent of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, graced the occasion. Sri Krishnamurthy Venkataraman, Alumna of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and a distinguished speaker compered the program enthralling the audience with Sai insights blended in timely dashes of wit and humor. The event commenced with hoisting the Prasanthi Flag and lighting the lamp of love, followed by Veda chanting and Bhajans.

 

Sri  Ashwath Narayanan, Faculty, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and Prashanthi Mandir Singer was the Guest of Honour , who graciously accepted the invitation for the valedictory function and conducted the bhajan workshop titled “Bha-Ra-Ta”. Sri Ashwath Narayanan covered a wide range of important and informative topics such as
  • voice culture practice,
  • importance of talam,
  • do’s and dont’s of a bhajan singer,
  • how to imbibe the meaning of the bhajan to enhance the ‘Bhavam’ aspect of the songs and so on.

 

 

Sri Ashwath Narayanan sang few songs to demonstrate its nuances and also shared few of his personal experiences as a bhajan singer in the immediate physical presence of Swami.
This was followed by distribution of medals and certificates to Bhajan Vikas students (Batch 8 – boys) on the successful completion of the course.  The event came to a conclusion with Mangala Arati followed by Prasadam to all the 200 participants.

 

 

Balvikas , Bhajan Vikas students and devotees attended the program. All the Bhajan singers and aspirants gathered at the premises delighted at their good fortune on the blessed day as they carried several invaluable takeaways from the workshop, the most important one being ‘How bhajan is the most potent tool to draw the Lord to the Bhakta’!!
