SANATANI MANCH-19th January 2020 (Shakti Swarupini Day)-Odisha
“Sanatani Mancha” : a well known term among the Sai fraternity of Odisha. This provides a platform to celebrate the glory of womanhood, of the great culture and tradition of Odisha. Its a part of Mahila Bibhaga, where each Mahila of the organization of the state is a member. The objective of this Mancha is to spread and promote the spirit of Service, amity, Literature and Culture . It also provides a platform for the Mahilas to express their views and talents. It helps to revive and restore the bygone old culture and tradition which is likely to be extinct in due course to rapid urbanization. Keeping this in view, Sanatani Manch celebrates different Festivals of Odisha, (Popular in different areas) in different parts of the state. Throughout the year, this Mancha provides ample opportunities for the members of Sai Family to celebrate their regional festival such as Raja, Nuakhai etc at their very own place with spiritual fervour coupled with the cultural and traditional practice. Thus, it becomes a medium of cultural exchange among the members of Sai Family of Odisha.
This year, on 19th January 2020 (Shakti Swarupini Day, declared by our beloved Bhagavan) and on the auspicious day of Makara Sankranti, mahilas of Shanatani Mancha availed a golden opportunity to celebrate this occasion at Markandi, a village near the sea in southern part of Odisha. Smt. Priyambada Pattnaik, State Spiritual Co., Smt. Bijaylaxmi Pattnaik, Editor, Sanatani Magazine, Dr.Puspamitra Mohanty attended this programme. Deliberations were made on different topics like importance and rituals of Makar Sankranti, objectives of Sanatani Mancha and its role and responsibilities of the Sai sisters in it, importance of Prashanti Seva, along details of ongoing activities under Mahila wing in state etc.
In this programme, more than six hundred Mahilas participated with great enthusiasm and joy. The villagers are very simple and much devoted to Bhagavan since long . Most of them belong to the fishing community. The festival started with Veda and Bhajan. The three days of celebration of Makar like Bhogi, Pongal, Kunuma had been observed, in the typical tradition. They worshipped the cow, a part of the celebration.
The Sai sisters sang the traditional song near the fire (Made of Cow dung). They clasped one another’s hand and moved around the fire singing the song. Everyone was jubilant and enjoyed the celebrations. Actually it enhanced the bonding between them. Their love pervaded the whole atmosphere. The sisters who had gone to the other parts of the state became enriched of this forgotten tradition and enjoyed fully.
Three sisters of Ganjam District were felicitated by Sanatani Manch for their exemplary Seva rendered to the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation. One sister from the village Markndi was one among the three. The function ended with offering of Mangala Aarti to Bhagavan.
