Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation-Tamil Nadu
With the bountiful blessings and grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the seventeenth anniversary of the vocational Training Centre for women, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation (SSSSO), Tamil Nadu was celebrated on the 19th of March 2018. It was the perfect setting for the celebration of a meaningful journey of a centre for mahilas. The function started off with the lighting of lamp by Smt. Soundarya Krishnamurthy, State Spiritual Coordinator followed by veda chanting and bhajans. Shri G. Varadhan, State President, Tamil Nadu, SSSSO welcomed the gathering. Dr. Mohan, Convenor, Tamil Nadu, SSSSO and member of the central Trust, Prashanthi Nilayam in his inaugural speech was appreciative of this move to empower women especially in a sustained manner.
Shri T.G. Krishnamurthy, former state president in his special address, highlighted the need for compassion as advocated by Bhagawan as the driving force to reach out to our fellowmen. There was also a video presentation of the activities of the centre in Tamil. Mrs. Kannaki Paciyanathan, IAS, chief guest of the function who currently heads the commission for women’s welfare, in her speech, stressed the need to open new avenues for a better living for women. She spelt out the steps initiated by this commission to address the grievances of women and children at home or at the work place. Mrs. Uma Maheshwari and Mrs. Juliet and other members of the commission also graced the occasion with their presence. In short they reiterated the fact that ultimately it is the woman who shapes the destiny of a nation. Mrs. Kannaki Packianathan distributed the certificates and prizes for the students who had completed the courses and the sewing machines to the students from tailoring course.
Mrs. Soundarya Krishnamurthy gave away the mementos to the ladies serving at the centre while Shri. G.Varadhan did the same for the gents for their invaluable services to the centre.
The rendition of devotional music by the ladies was enthralling. Additionally, the Balvikas cultural programme was highly commendable for its contents and colourful presentation. Shri Ramani, All India Vice President (South) distributed the mementos to the balvikas students. Shri. Suresh Chander, District President SSSSO of Chennai metro west proposed the vote of thanks and the celebration came to a close with the maha mangala aarathi to beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
